6. Breaking and Developing News
Breaking news can change rapidly as information emerges from authorities, witnesses, news agencies, official sources and other reporting.
NewsBreak24 may therefore update developing stories as additional verified information becomes available.
Early reports may be attributed to the source providing the information, particularly where facts have not yet been independently established.
If information contained in an earlier report is subsequently established to be materially incorrect, NewsBreak24 will seek to correct the relevant information rather than simply adding contradictory information later in the article.
7. Headlines and Thumbnails
NewsBreak24 applies its accuracy standards to headlines, subheadings, captions, thumbnails and other presentation elements.
If a headline or thumbnail materially misrepresents the underlying facts, NewsBreak24 may amend it.
Where a headline is corrected because it contained a significant factual error, a correction note may be added where appropriate.
Routine improvements made for clarity, grammar, readability or search optimisation that do not materially change the meaning of a story generally do not require a correction notice.
8. Photographs, Videos and Captions
If NewsBreak24 incorrectly identifies a person, location, event, photograph or video, we will review the material and correct it where appropriate.
Depending on the circumstances, we may:
- correct a caption or description;
- replace an incorrect image or video;
- correct attribution or credit;
- add contextual information;
- remove material where its continued publication would be misleading or inappropriate; or

9. Social Media Corrections
NewsBreak24’s editorial standards extend to news content published through its official social-media accounts.
Where a social-media post contains a significant factual error, NewsBreak24 may, depending on the platform and circumstances:
- edit the post where the platform permits;
- publish a corrected post;
- publish a clarification or follow-up;
- delete and replace materially inaccurate content; or
- direct users to corrected information on NewsBreak24’s website.
The appropriate response will depend on the seriousness of the error, the reach of the original post and the technical features available on the platform.
Deleting an incorrect social-media post does not necessarily eliminate the need for a correction where the error was significant or widely distributed.
10. News Agency, Wire Service and Third-Party Content
NewsBreak24 may publish or use material supplied by licensed news agencies, wire services, official sources, press releases and other third parties.
Where NewsBreak24 becomes aware of a material error in such content, we may review and update the published material as appropriate and in accordance with applicable licensing arrangements and editorial practices.
Where the original provider issues a correction or withdrawal, NewsBreak24 will consider the appropriate corresponding action on content published through NewsBreak24.
NewsBreak24 does not knowingly retain materially inaccurate information merely because the error originated with a third-party source.
11. Quotations
Direct quotations should accurately reflect the words attributed to the person or source concerned.
NewsBreak24 will not ordinarily alter a quotation simply because a person later wishes they had expressed themselves differently.
However, where a quotation has been materially misquoted, incorrectly attributed or inaccurately transcribed, we will review the evidence and correct the quotation where appropriate.
Minor editing for obvious transcription, punctuation or readability should not materially alter the speaker’s intended meaning.
12. Allegations and Responses

Receiving a disagreement, denial or alternative account does not automatically mean that the original reporting was incorrect.

13. Content Removal
Corrections and content removal are different processes.
NewsBreak24 generally prefers to correct inaccurate information rather than delete an entire article where the underlying journalism remains valid.
Published journalism may form part of the public record and will not ordinarily be removed merely because:

- the article is unfavourable;

However, removal, anonymisation, de-indexing or substantial modification may be considered where justified by applicable law, a court order, serious privacy or safety concerns, material editorial failure, intellectual-property rights or exceptional ethical circumstances.
14. Article Timestamps
NewsBreak24 may display both an original publication date/time and an updated date/time where technically supported and appropriate.
An updated timestamp may indicate that meaningful changes or additional information have been added to an article.
A timestamp change should not be used to falsely present old reporting as newly reported journalism.
Minor spelling, formatting or technical changes do not necessarily require an updated timestamp.
15. Archived Content
NewsBreak24 generally maintains published journalism as part of its digital archive.
Where an archived article contains a material factual error discovered after publication, NewsBreak24 may correct the archived article and, where appropriate, include a correction note.
The passage of time does not prevent NewsBreak24 from correcting a material factual error.

18. Significant vs Minor Changes
NewsBreak24 distinguishes between material corrections and routine editorial changes.

Minor changes generally do not require a notice. These may include:

- grammatical corrections;

- broken-link repairs;

19. Transparency of Corrections
Where a factual error is significant enough to materially affect a reader’s understanding of a story, NewsBreak24 aims to make the correction transparent.
We will not knowingly use silent edits to conceal significant factual errors.
